Mention the word "scrubs" to most people, and the first thing that pops into their minds is an image of a medical professional. What people do not realize is that scrubs are also a great clothing choice for the public at large.

Clothing meant for medical use is designed to stand up to a lot of wear. Hospital shifts can be long and labor intensive so the staff has to have clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in. The clothing also has to be easily laundered and requires little or no ironing. All of these features make scrubs a great option for every day leisurewear. Scrubs are just as comfortable as the pajamas or sweat suits many of us wear to relax. Another great thing about scrubs is the great variety in sizing and lengths. It is a sad fact that most active wear is designed for a person of average height. Ask any woman who is under 5'3" or over 5'6" what their greatest shopping frustration is, and they will say length. Stores that carry petites often have a very limited selection, and tall lengths are even harder to find. At least a petite woman can get her clothes altered to be shorter. There is little to be done to make clothes longer. Tall scrub pants are readily available and much more flattering than the men's pants tall women have been forced to buy because they need the length.

Another great thing about scrubs is that they are available all year round. There are always new styles and new patterns coming out, but scrubs are not stuck in the two season cycle that affects most clothing retailers.
